Sober Living Cleveland’s first recovery home, Cedar House, has become a certified Ohio Recovery Housing Associate! We have earned certification because we meet or exceed quality standards and expectations. Standards include health and safety practices, and policies and procedures in line with best practices in recovery housing nationwide. As part of the application process, trained peer reviewers who operate their own recovery housing in Ohio visited Cedar House. Their enthusiasm for our house and our program made us proud! And we want to do more, creating a network of recovery housing for men and women in our community.
To our knowledge, Cedar House is the only recovery house for women on the east side of Cleveland. Our residents range in age from 18 to 67. Since we opened in March, we have had residents from the following Ohio counties referred to us by NE Ohio treatment centers: Ashland, Cuyahoga (30%), Erie, Franklin, Lake, Lorain (16%), Lucas, Richland, Summit, Stark, and three from Pennsylvania. Each has an individual recovery plan guided by our live-in House Manager with clinical oversight of the Program Director.
With the addiction epidemic far from abating, we plan to grow beyond a volunteer-led organization into one with professional administrative staff. Our goal for 2018 is to hire an Executive Director who, together with our talented Board of Trustees, will create a strong and sustainable future for an organization that has an important, and essential, mission: to empower people in recovery from addiction to alcohol and other drugs by providing safe, affordable sober housing, support for healthy habits, and a foundation for a better life.
