Sober Living Cleveland, Inc. (SLC) is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to empower people in recovery from addiction to alcohol and other drugs by providing safe, affordable sober housing, support for healthy habits, and a foundation for a better life.

In 2017 SLC opened Cedar House, a recovery house for women on the east side of Cleveland. Cedar House is a certified Ohio Recovery Housing Associate. We have earned certification because we meet or exceed quality standards and expectations. Standards include health and safety practices, and policies and procedures in line with best practices in recovery housing nationwide. Each resident has an individual recovery plan guided by our live-in House Manager with clinical oversight of a Program Director (LICDC.)

The Board of Trustees, a volunteer group, is seeking a Director. Initially the position is an hourly part-time responsibility because SLC has one house. With the Director’s participation, SLC will embark on a strategic planning process with a consultant to create a roadmap for additional recovery houses. As the Strategic Plan is implemented, the Director’s hours and responsibilities will increase to the position of full-time salaried Executive Director.

The ideal candidate should be experienced in nonprofit management and knowledgeable about the disease of addiction. Because SLC is a start-up organization, the Director should be entrepreneurial, flexible, and collaborative with the Board of Trustees. Equally important is networking with others in the field.

Responsibilities:
Oversee Cedar House including:

staff, property maintenance, connections to services/programs, supplies, evaluation Facilitate strategic plan
Work collaboratively with the Board and volunteers
Represent SLC in the recovery community and industry

Fundraising

The Board will continue managing the following, with the intention of transitioning them to the Director’s responsibilities:

  • Fundraising/financing
  • Bookkeeping/accounting
  • Marketing: website, enews, media, publications, social networks, etc.
